The Packers recorded three sacks and two takeaways in the 24-19 win over the Rams in Week 5.
Analysis: The Packers are among the best fantasy defenses this year, recording a league-high 14 sacks and 16 sacks (fifth) while allowing a whopping 236 passing yards per game (23rd). It's unclear if CB Jaire Alexander (groin) will be back in the lineup this week, but he's trending in the right direction and would be a major boost against WR Marvin Harrison. Regardless, the Packers could struggle to maintain their ceiling this week, as the Cardinals have turned the ball over just five times (eighth) …read more

The Packers recorded two sacks and three takeaways in the 31-29 loss to the Vikings in Week 4.
Analysis: The Packers allowed 28 points in the first half and just three points in the second half. This was the second time this season that the Packers allowed more than 30 points in a game, but it was their fourth straight game with three takeaways, as they lead the league with 12 forced turnovers. They also have produced 13 sacks (eighth), signaling their massive weekly upside. They should be considered a high-end unit in Week 5 against the Rams, who have generated just 18.8 points per game (22nd)…read more

The Packers recorded eight sacks and three takeaways, including a pick-six, in the 30-14 win over the Titans in Week 3.
Analysis: The Packers have produced a league-high nine turnovers and are tied for fifth in the league with 11 sacks. We can't expect them to continue forcing three turnovers per game, and most of their sacks came in just one game, so this level of production isn't sustainable. Their matchup against the Vikings is concerning, as they have recorded 28.3 points per game (third) while having an assortment of weapons, including WR Justin Jefferson and RB Aaron Jones. That will add some risk for Packers D/ST…read more

The Packers recorded three interceptions and a sack in the 16-10 win over the Colts in Week 2.
Analysis: The Packers lead the league with six turnovers through two weeks, but their pass rush needs to take the next step after posting just three sacks in that stretch. The matchup against the Titans provides plenty of upside, as they have coughed up five turnovers through two weeks while QB Will Levis was sacked seven times. Furthermore, they have scored just 17 points in each of their first two games. The Packers D/ST maintains massive upside as a result in Week 3.

The Packers recorded three takeaways and two sacks in the 34-29 loss to the Eagles in Week 1.
Analysis: The Packers were able to pressure QB Jalen Hurts into mistakes, but they couldn't avoid giving up big plays, leading to their first loss of the season. Furthermore, they allowed 109 yards on 24 carries to RB Saquon Barkley, although they contained QB Jalen Hurts to 33 yards on the ground. Their Week 2 matchup against the Colts is more favorable, as their pass-catchers don't come close to the Eagles' crew. The Packers will enter their first game under new DC Jeff Hafley in Week 1 versus the Eagles.
Analysis: This game will be in Brazil, so we should expect plenty of uncertainty with the extended travel, more than we would normally expect under a new defensive coordinator. They draw a tough test against the Eagles, even if they ended last season on a brutal note. They averaged 25.5 points per game (seventh), although their 28 giveaways was the 10th-most in the league. That provides a good amount of upside for the Packers, but weapons like RB Saquon Barkley and WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith…read more

The Packers signed S Xavier McKinney in March and let S Darnell Savage walk in free agency.
Analysis: They also took S Javon Bullard in the second round. McKinney is a significant upgrade in coverage and as a run-stopper, and he recorded 116 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble with the Giants last year. New DC Jeff Hafley is transforming this unit into a 4-3 setup, and it has plenty of firepower in the pass rush now that 2023 first-round pick Lukas Van Ness has a year under his belt. There are still major question marks with this unit, especially with their No. 2 cornerback. But…read more

The Packers recorded four sacks and two interceptions, including a pick-six, in the 48-32 win over the Cowboys in the wild-card round.
Analysis: This was a masterclass by the Packers' defense, which gave up just 16 points through three quarters before taking their foot off the gas. This defense has a ton of potential, especially if CB Jaire Alexander (shoulder/ankle) is able to play. Alexander is listed as questionable but didn't practice all week. Playing without one of the top cornerbacks in the league is a major liability against the 49ers, who are effectively coming off a two-week bye. The Packers recorded five sacks and no takeaways in the 17-9 win over the Bears in Week 18.
Analysis: The Packers gave up 10 or fewer points in each of their last two games against divisional opponents, as they finished with 20.6 points allowed per game -- 10th in the league. Now, they face one of their biggest tests yet, as the Cowboys led the league during the regular season with 30.0 points per game while giving up just 16 turnovers (second). The Packers recorded four sacks and two takeaways in the 33-10 win over the Vikings in Week 17.
Analysis: The Packers dominated the Vikings the entire game, but it's worth noting that they faced two backup quarterbacks. Now, they'll face QB Justin Fields and the rising Bears. who have averaged 24.5 points per game over the last six outings. That could be trouble for the Packers, who have been exposed by mediocre teams lately. This game has shootout potential, so while there's plenty of upside for Packers D/ST this week, there's probably too much risk to justify starting the unit in fantasy…read more

The Packers recorded two sacks and no takeaways in the 33-30 win over the Panthers in Week 16.
Analysis: The Panthers scored a season high against the Packers in Week 16, and this was their first time surpassing 28 points in a game since Week 6. The Packers defense has been thoroughly exposed and will once again be without CB Jaire Alexander (suspension) in Week 17 against the Vikings. That provides significant risk to Packers D/ST, but there's plenty of reward to chase, too. The Vikings will start fifth-round rookie Jaren Hall, who has thrown just 10 passes in the NFL. The Packers recorded five sacks and a fumble recovery in the 34-20 loss to the Buccaneers in Week 15.
Analysis: They would've given up 41 points if Buccaneers RB Rachaad White didn't slide instead of walking into the end zone in the fourth quarter. This was a brutal performance by the Packers, who have given up 21.1 points per game (17th). Nevertheless, they're set up quite well in Week 16 against the Panthers, who haven't scored more than 18 points in a game since Week 6. The Panthers have been relatively safe with the ball (17 turnovers), but there's a high enough floor even if CB Jaire Alexander…read more

Analysis: The Packers held QB Tommy DeVito to just 158 passing yards but still managed to give up at least 20 points for the fourth time in five games. They will look to put this one behind them as they turn their focus to the Buccaneers in Week 15. Hopefully, CB Jaire Alexander (shoulder) will be back in the fold, but there's no indication whether that will be the case. The Packers recorded three sacks and an interception in the 27-19 win over the Chiefs in Week 13.
Analysis: This was a remarkable effort by the Packers defense, which was without top CB Jaire Alexander (shoulder). QB Patrick Mahomes was held to 210 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Perhaps Alexander is back for Week 14 against the Giants, but it shouldn't matter. The Giants will start Tommy DeVito under center again. The Packers recorded three sacks and three fumble recoveries, one of which they returned for a touchdown, in the 29-22 win over the Lions in Week 12.
Analysis: This was perhaps the best performance the Packers have put forth all season, and they did it without top CB Jaire Alexander (shoulder). Alexander was limited to start practicing Week 13, so he stands a decent chance to return versus the Chiefs. The Chiefs rank 11th with 23.3 points per game, but there is some upside considering they also rank 24th with 19 giveaways. The Packers recorded two sacks and a fumble recovery in the 23-20 win over the Chargers.
Analysis: The Packers allowed 260 passing yards but largely kept the Chargers' ground game in check. It was a fine game for fantasy purposes, but it underscores that this defense may be better in real life than it is in fantasy. While the Packers have allowed just 20.2 points per game (10th), they have recorded just nine takeaways (29th) and 23 sacks (23rd). The Packers posted a sack and no takeaways in the 23-19 loss to the Steelers in Week 10.
Analysis: The Packers have allowed just 20.2 points per game (11th) this season, but they haven't provided much fantasy upside with just 21 sacks (21st) and eight takeaways (29th). They'll face one of the league's best offenses this week, as the Chargers have posted 26.6 points per game (seventh) while giving up a league-low seven turnovers through nine games. The Packers recorded two takeaways and a sack in the 20-3 win over the Rams in Week 9.
Analysis: The Packers held backup QB Brett Rypien to just 130 yards on 28 passing attempts. Now, they draw another favorable matchup against the Steelers, although they'll be on the road. Through eight games, the Steelers have averaged 16.9 points per game (29th), although they've been safe with the ball, giving up just eight turnovers (fifth). Analysis: This probably would've been worse if Vikings QB Kirk Cousins didn't leave early with an Achilles injury. The Packers rank 20th with 22.3 points allowed per game, and they haven't posted a multi-turnover performance since Week 1. Still, they have an interesting opportunity in Week 9 against the Rams. The Packers have allowed 22 points per game (21st) while forcing just five turnovers (27th). Nevertheless, they should have some utility in Week 8 versus the Vikings, who will be without WR Justin Jefferson (hamstring). Analysis: This was a solid effort by the Packers defense, but it has been an inconsistent season. Through five games, the Packers have given up 22.6 points per game (22nd) while forcing just five turnovers (20th). There's plenty of upside against the Broncos, who have coughed up 11 turnovers while QB Russell Wilson has been sacked 19 times. Analysis: This was a disappointing performance on a short week, but there's a good bounce-back opportunity in Week 5 versus the Raiders. QB Jimmy Garoppolo should be back and will likely have WR Davante Adams (shoulder) at his disposal. Adams can break a game open himself, but Josh Jacobs may be more concerning considering how much the Packers have struggled against the run. The Packers recorded an interception and a sack in the 25-24 loss to the Falcons in Week 2.
Analysis: This was a disappointing performance by the Packers D/ST after a dominant opener. They have an intriguing Week 3 matchup on deck in their home opener. The Saints have yet to score more than 20 points in a game, and QB Derek Carr has a 1:2 TD:INT ratio while getting sacked eight times. Still, it's a bit difficult to trust the Packers D/ST considering their Week 2 struggles, but the Saints provide enough upside to make it a viable option in DFS and deeper leagues.

The Packers recorded four sacks, a fumble recovery and a pick-six in the 38-20 win over the Bears in Week 1.
Analysis: This was a dominant effort by the Packers, as rookie LB Lukas Van Ness notched his first sack while LB Rashan Gary (knee) was eased into action. They have an intriguing Week 2 matchup versus the Falcons, as QB Desmond Ridder was just sacked four times in the season opener. However, the Falcons don't pass the ball much, so there is less upside for Packers D/ST this week, although the floor should be high in a low-scoring game.

LB Rashan Gary is expected to operate on a "pitch count" to start the season.
Analysis: Gary is a dominant pass rusher, but his effect on the game in Week 1 could be diminished as he returns from a knee injury. The Packers have a difficult matchup versus the Bears, who added star WR D.J. Moore this offseason. They certainly have a star CB of their own with Jaire Alexander (groin), and the team should have a decent floor because the Bears' offense isn't expected to be a powerhouse. LB Rashan Gary (knee) opened training camp on the PUP list.
Analysis: Gary tore his ACL in November, so it's unclear if he'll be ready for Week 1. The 2019 first-round pick is instrumental to this defense's success, as he put up six sacks last season, which ranked second on the team despite playing just nine games. It's yet to be seen if first-round rookie Lukas Van Ness can pick up the slack right away, but if he has a slow start and Gary is out, this unit's ceiling will be lowered.

The Packers selected LB Lukas Van Ness in the first round (13th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Analysis: LB Rashan Gary is coming off a torn ACL and isn't guaranteed to begin the season healthy, so adding Van Ness could help the pass rush attempt a rebound in 2023 after finishing with just 34 sacks (28th) last year. If the pass rush can't at least become mediocre, it could put a lot of pressure on the secondary, although the secondary answered the call in 2022 by finishing sixth in the league with 197 passing yards allowed per game. Analysis: This was a remarkable outing by the Packers, and they have now posted 12 takeaways over the last three games. They have a legitimate kick returner in Keisean Nixon, too, and he provides weekly upside for Packers D/ST. Still, this will be a difficult test in Week 18, as the Lions rank fourth with 27.1 points per game while giving up a league-low 15 turnovers. This unit will face another difficult test in Week 17 versus the Vikings, who scored 25.2 points per game (seventh) through the first 15 games while giving up just 17 turnovers (sixth). That doesn't inspire much confidence when going on the road versus the Eagles, who have averaged 26.3 points per game (fourth) while giving up just nine turnovers (second). Nevertheless, this unit has minimal appeal in Week 8 against the Bills, who rank second in the league with 29.3 points per game. Their pass rush is menacing and will be key for producing fantasy value in Week 7 against QB Taylor Heinicke and the Commanders. Heinicke hasn't played yet this season, but QB Carson Wentz was sacked 23 times through the first six games behind a struggling offensive line.

The Packers recorded a sack and a safety in the 27-22 loss to the Giants in Week 5.
Analysis: The Packers rank 11th in the league with 12 sacks despite a pitiful Week 5 performance. This unit has been steady with 19.2 points allowed per game (11th), but with just four takeaways (26th), it has been disappointing for fantasy purposes. Their fate could change in Week 6 against the Jets, who have given up nine turnovers (26th) while their quarterbacks have been sacked 12 times.

The Packers recorded four sacks and a fumble recovery in the 27-24 overtime win against the Patriots in Week 4.
Analysis: The Packers' defense only gave up 17 points, as Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw a pick-six. The defense has allowed just 15.5 points per game this season, but it has recorded just four turnovers and nine sacks. The ceiling has been relatively low, but facing the Giants in Week 5 is enticing. QB Daniel Jones has been sacked 14 times and has coughed up three turnovers, and with limited surrounding weapons, he'll be even more prone to mistakes. The Packers are a surefire fantasy start this week.

The Packers recorded three sacks and two fumble recoveries in the 14-12 win over the Buccaneers in Week 3.
Analysis: The Packers now rank sixth in the league with 15 points allowed per game, and they have totaled seven sacks and three turnovers thus far. Their upcoming schedule is extremely intriguing, starting with a matchup against the Patriots, who will likely be without QB Mac Jones (ankle). The Packers notched three sacks and an interception in the 27-10 win over the Bears in Week 2.
Analysis: The Packers bounced back after a tough opener, and now they face a depleted Buccaneers offense. WRs Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) are banged-up and uncertain for Week 3, and WR Mike Evans will serve a one-game suspension. Behind Godwin and Jones are Russell Gage, Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller. That doesn't inspire confidence, so the Packers' defense has an excellent opportunity this week. The Packers posted a sack and no takeaways in the 23-7 loss to the Vikings in Week 1.
Analysis: This loss could've been a lot worse, as the Packers had no answer for WR Justin Jefferson. We should expect the Packers to learn from their mistake and let CB Jaire Alexander shadow stars like Jefferson moving forward. The Bears don't have such a star. In fact, they have one of the worst offensive lines in the league, and WR Darnell Mooney is their top receiver. S Darnell Savage (hamstring) returned to practice from a hamstring injury and has a good chance to play Week 1 against the Vikings.
Analysis: Besides for Savage, the Packers' defense is as full health. Last year, they ranked 13th with 21.9 points allowed per game, 14th with 39 sacks and eighth with 26 takeaways. That should be their baseline in 2022, and they have a chance to be even better than last season, as CB Jaire Alexander is fully healthy and they added first-round rookie LB Quay Walker and free-agent DE Jarran Reed.

Analysis: Likely special-teams contributor Keisean Nixon (undisclosed) is on the non-football injury list, but the unit is otherwise healthy to begin camp. The Green Bay D/ST has high expectations for 2022 while returning its major contributors from last year, in addition to CB Jaire Alexander returning from a shoulder injury and inking an extension. Analysis: Green Bay took a major step forward during DC Joe Barry's first year, and he's back along with the rest of the unit's starters from 2021. CB Jaire Alexander was limited to only four games, but Eric Stokes delivered a strong rookie campaign while Rasul Douglas had a breakout season. QB Lamar Jackson is nursing a sprained ankle and may be a game-time call for Sunday. The Baltimore offense has struggled even with Jackson under center of later, but the quarterback being sidelined would certainly be a difference maker. The Packers lost the exhibition opener to the Texans 26-7 but appear to be in good shape health wise as the preseason ramps up. Still, Washington is a bottom of the barrel offense in yardage (262.4 YPG), scoring (14.4 PPG) and sacks allowed (40). Slowing RBs Adrian Peterson and Derrius Guice will be the keys shutting down the offense, which averages only 163.0 YPG through the air. The Packers should…read more

The Packers were torched for 39 points by the 49ers in Week 12 and will play the Giants on Sunday.
Analysis: Nothing went right for the Green Bay in this game, as the offense averaged a meager 2.8 yards per play while the defense surrendered 7.5 yards per play. The Packers had a strong defensive start to the season but have been struggling of late, and a matchup with the Giants provides the perfect opportunity to get back on track. New York ranks 25th in total offense, 24th in scoring, tied-23rd in sacks allowed (35) and 31st in giveaways (25). The Green Bay D/ST has been an unreliable option of late…read more

The Packers come out of their bye week giving up 384.7 YPG and 20.5 PPG and will play the 49ers on Sunday Night Football.
Analysis: Green Bay had two takeaways, three sacks and held Carolina to 16 points in Week 10, but as usual played bend-but-don't-break defense and allowed 400 yards. The Packers are tied-sixth in takeaways (16), but they've struggled to slow opposing offenses after a strong start to the season. Meanwhile, the 49ers are averaging 34.8 PPG in the last four games and rank fifth in total offense (386.6 YPG) this season. The Green Bay D/ST isn't an overly attractive fantasy option for Week 12.

The Packers surrendered 26 points and 442 yards in Sunday's loss to the Chargers and will play the Panthers in Week 10.
Analysis: The game should have been much more lopsided than the 26-11 final, but Los Angeles converted only two of five red zone trips into touchdowns. The Packers managed only two sacks and didn't have a takeaway, as RBs Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler combined for 150 rushing yards. Things won't get any easier this week, as RB Christian McCaffrey is averaging over 150 yards from scrimmage through eight games for Carolina. Green Bay has struggled to force turnovers and bring down the quarterback in…read more
