Lands on IR
Mostert was placed on injured reserve Tuesday to a left high-ankle sprain, spelling an end to his 2020 season, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Mostert's season was plagued by injuries, as ankle and knee injuries will end up costing him eight games this year. The 28-year-old rushed 104 times for 521 yards and two touchdowns, and he caught 16 of 19 targets for 156 yards and a score. The 49ers will close out the 2020 campaign with a committee of Jeff Wilson (ankle), Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon at running back. Mostert is under contract for the 2021 season at a $3.3 million cap hit.

Season likely over
Mostert (ankle) isn't expected to return in the 2020 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Mostert missed four games earlier this season with a left ankle injury, and he never fully recovered before suffering a high-ankle sprain to the same ankle in this past Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. With the 49ers eliminated from playoff contention, they're expected to shut Mostert down for the rest of the season. If that's the case, a committee of Jeff Wilson (ankle), Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon will handle the backfield reps for the final two games.

Sustains ankle injury
Mostert left Sunday's game at Dallas due to an ankle injury, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Mostert logged a one-yard carry on the 49ers' first offensive play of the second half, but shortly thereafter he was seen grabbing at his left ankle on the bench, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com. Deemed questionable to return, Mostert will finish Week 15 with 14 carries for 68 yards if he's unable to do so. In the meantime, Jeff Wilson will carry the load out of San Fran's backfield.

Set to play Sunday
Mostert (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Dallas, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Mostert underwent an MRI at the beginning of the week and was held out of practice Wednesday. He apparently made good progress in his recovery from the ankle issue, so he's expected to get the Week 15 start, presumably continuing to split backfield work with Jeff Wilson. He'll benefit from an excellent matchup, as the Cowboys have surrendered a league-worst 5.1 yards per carry.

Bumps up to limited
Mostert (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Mostert emerged from the 49ers' Week 14 loss to Washington with an ankle issue, marking his second such injury of the campaign. Clearly, the current one is far less severe, as he followed up Wednesday's absence with some activity one day later. He has one more opportunity to bump up to full Friday, but even if he doesn't he seems poised to be no less than 'questionable' for Sunday's game in Dallas. Behind Mostert, Jeff Wilson is next in the pecking order at running back, with Tevin Coleman and…read more

Not practicing Wednesday
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Mostert (ankle) won't practice Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Mostert has missed four games this season due to a high-ankle sprain, but he's also served in a timeshare at running back for each of the past three contests, racking up 156 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown on 44 touches during that span. Shanahan told Wagoner on Monday that Mostert emerged from this past Sunday's loss to Washington with an ankle issue that required "further imaging." The results of those tests haven't been revealed, but Mostert isn't exactly kicking off Week 15 prep in…read more

Getting ankle checked out
Mostert is slated to have further imaging done on his ankle, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: With that in mind, coach Kyle Shanahan said the 49ers will know more about the running back's status Wednesday. If Mostert is out or limited Sunday against the Cowboys, Jeff Wilson, Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon would be in line for added backfield snaps Week 15.

Totals 70 scrimmage yards
Mostert carried 14 times for 65 yards and caught two of four targets for five yards during Sunday's 23-15 loss to Washington.
Analysis: Mostert averaged a respectable 4.6 yards per carry against a stingy Washington front but finished shy of 15 carries for the second straight week. He finished fourth on the team in targets and made a pair of receptions, though he failed to break either for a notable gain and finished averaging a mere 2.5 yards per catch. Mostert has totaled just 156 scrimmage yards on 44 touches over the last three games and will look to break out of his slump next Sunday against a Cowboys defense that has been…read more

Splits work with Wilson
Mostert rushed nine times for 42 yards and secured his only target for one yard in the 49ers' 34-24 loss to the Bills on Monday night.
Analysis: Playing his second game since returning from injured reserve, Mostert got off to a good start early but ended up splitting carries with Jeff Wilson (seven rush attempts) almost evenly while also becoming a victim of game script. The 49ers were forced to turn to the pass in the second half due to a multi-possession deficit, helping lead to Mostert's second-lowest rushing workload of the campaign. Scores rushing TD in return
Mostert carried 16 times for 43 yards and a touchdown while catching both his targets for one additional yard during Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Rams. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Making his first appearance since mid-October, Mostert got his team on the board with an eight-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. He averaged just 2.7 yards per carry and hardly made an impact as a receiver, but it was still a respectable performance all things considered. Meanwhile, Jeff Wilson Jr. and Jerick McKinnon combined for 75 yards on 17 touches, though neither player was particularly effective. Back in action Week 12
Mostert (ankle) is listed as active Sunday against the Rams.
Analysis: Mostert has been sidelined since Oct. 18, when he sustained a high-ankle sprain that forced a stint on IR. With a week of practice under his belt, he's back in the lineup, but it remains to be seen if he'll be the primary ballcarrier right off the bat. Despite playing in just four games this season, he leads the 49ers in rushing with 303 yards and has 150 yards through the air, making him a good candidate to resume his previous role with Tevin Coleman (knee) out. Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson…read more

Activated from IR
Mostert (ankle) was activated from injured reserve Saturday.
Analysis: Coach Kyle Shanahan stated Friday that this transaction would happen, adding that Mostert is still considered questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams. Jeff Wilson (ankle) is in the same boat, while Tevin Coleman (knee) has been ruled out. Mostert figures to capture a bulk of the backfield work if he plays Sunday in a tough road matchup against the Rams.

Could play Sunday
Mostert (ankle) will be activated from injured reserve before Sunday's game against the Rams, with coach Kyle Shanahan considering the running back questionable to play, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Jeff Wilson (IR - ankle) will get the same treatment, while Tevin Coleman (knee) has been ruled out. Mostert should be the lead back if he ends up playing, but the 49ers also have Jerick McKinnon on hand, and it sounds like Wilson has a shot as well. It could come down to a game-time decision for Mostert and/or Wilson.

Labeled day-to-day
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that Mostert (ankle) is considered "day-to-day," Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.
Analysis: The 49ers designated Mostert for a return from injured reserve Tuesday, and Shanahan's comments would seem to hint that the running back has a shot at returning to the lineup as early as Sunday's game against the Rams. Tevin Coleman (knee) also resumed practicing in a limited fashion Wednesday, so San Francisco's backfield appears set to receive some reinforcement in the near future.

Cleared to practice again
The 49ers designated Mostert (ankle) to return from injured reserve Tuesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Mostert missed the 49ers' final four games before the team's Week 11 bye with a sprained left ankle, but his return to practice Tuesday could set in motion a return to the lineup Sunday in Los Angeles against the Rams. Before deciding on Mostert's status for Week 12, the 49ers will presumably wait and see how his ankle responds to practice work over the next few days. The 49ers have 21 days to evaluate Mostert for a return to the active roster, so if the team decides to err on the side of…read more

May be back Week 12
Coach Kyle Shanahan hopes Mostert (ankle) will be available for the 49ers' next game Sunday, Nov. 29 versus the Rams, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Shanahan echoed the same thoughts about Tevin Coleman (knee), which would give San Francisco its top two running backs following its Week 11 bye. If that happens, the backfield could be composed of Mostert, Coleman, Jerick McKinnon (neck) and Austin Walter, with Jeff Wilson (ankle) and JaMycal Hasty (collarbone) still on IR.

Won't return from IR in Week 10
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Mostert (ankle) is unlikely to be activated from injured reserve before Sunday's game at New Orleans, but the 49ers hope to have the running back available for their first game after a Week 11 bye Nov. 29 versus the Rams, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Shanahan said the same of fellow running back Tevin Coleman (knee), which would leave the backfield in the hands of Jerick McKinnon, JaMycal Hasty and Austin Walter this weekend. Sunday's game will mark Mostert's sixth absence of the season.

Placed on IR
Mostert (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: This was always going to be the likely designation for the speedy running back as reports earlier in the week insinuated an IR stint was on the horizon. Jerick McKinnon and JaMycal Hasty were a factor following Mostert's injury in Week 6, but it remains to be seen if a backfield-by-committee will be in order Sunday, or if McKinnon will take over as the lead back similar to what we saw earlier this season. Mostert (ankle) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Mostert's absence from practice for the second day in a row comes as little surprise after coach Kyle Shanahan admitted earlier this week that Mostert will likely be forced to injured reserve due to the left high-ankle sprain he sustained in the 49ers' Week 6 win over the Rams. Coach Kyle Shanahan said Mostert (ankle) won't practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Mostert has been bit with the injury bug for a second time this season, this time tending to a high left ankle sprain in the aftermath of Sunday's win over the Rams. Shanahan told Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com on Monday that Mostert will "most likely" be placed on injured reserve, but the 49ers have yet to make the transaction official. Has high-ankle sprain, likely IR-bound
Coach Kyle Shanahan told Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com that Mostert has been diagnosed with a high left ankle sprain and "most likely" will be placed on injured reserve.
Analysis: Mostert sat out Weeks 3 and 4 with a sprained MCL and now is poised to miss at least three more games due to the ankle issue that forced him out of Sunday's win against the Rams. Shanahan also mentioned Tevin Coleman (knee) is a "long shot" to be activated from IR this week, per Matt Barrows of The Athletic, leaving Jerick McKinnon, JaMycal Hasty and Jeff Wilson (calf) as the likely running backs available to the 49ers offense this coming Sunday at New England.

Exits with ankle injury
Mostert (ankle) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Rams.
Analysis: Mostert appeared to tweak his ankle on a catch late in the first half, and he was ruled out in the third quarter, leaving Jerick McKinnon to operate as San Francisco's lead back for the rest of the contest. This is the latest injury setback for Mostert, who returned from a knee injury last week. Mostert was busy prior to exiting, with 17 carries for 65 yards and two catches for 11 yards. Totals 119 scrimmage yards
Mostert carried 11 times for 90 yards and added 29 yards on three receptions (three targets) during Sunday's 43-17 loss to the Dolphins.
Analysis: Mostert gashed the Dolphins defense for 8.2 yards per carry but saw his work on the ground limited by a surprisingly lopsided scoreline. He produced effectively with the targets he received but didn't have many red zone opportunities as C.J. Beathard replaced Jimmy Garoppolo in the second half. Most importantly, Mostert looked strong after recovering from a recent knee injury and will hope for a more favorable game script in next Sunday's matchup with the Rams.

Back in action Sunday
Mostert (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
Analysis: Mostert is making his first appearance since Week 2 after being limited in practice Wednesday through Friday. Per Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area, Mostert was wearing a compression tight on his right leg during a pregame warmup, which seemingly will be supporting the knee that endeared a sprain three games ago. Mostert's workload may be limited as a result as he'll have to contend with Jerick McKinnon, Jeff Wilson and perhaps JaMycal Hasty for reps out of the 49ers backfield.

Trending toward playing Sunday
Mostert (knee), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, "should be good [to play]," a source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Analysis: Mostert missed the 49ers' previous two games with a sprained MCL in his knee, but he took a step forward this week by practicing in a limited basis Wednesday through Friday. Though his status may not be firmly decided until the 49ers have a chance to evaluate him in a pregame workout, Mostert looks like he'll be ready to suit up Week 5. However, given the time he's missed of late along with the fact that he didn't return to full speed for practice, Mostert could handle a more limited role than…read more

Mostert (knee) is expected to be a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup with the Dolphins, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: A limited practice participant throughout the week, Mostert is listed as questionable on the 49ers' final injury report. A late kickoff (4:05 p.m. ET) isn't ideal for fantasy managers, but follow-up reports could shed more light on Mostert's situation before the first wave of games kick off Sunday. Coach Kyle Shanahan hopes to get Mostert (knee) back at practice Wednesday, Keiana Martin of the 49ers' official site reports.
Analysis: Mostert hasn't practiced since spraining his MCL in Week 2, missing two games in the process. Meanwhile, Tevin Coleman (knee) has been on injured reserve during that same stretch. In their place, Jerick McKinnon has totaled 38 touches for 174 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns, Jeff Wilson has put up a 19-88-2 line, and JaMycal Hasty has managed 3-18-0. Diagnosed with sprained MCL
Mostert sustained a mild MCL sprain during Sunday's 31-13 road victory against the Jets, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Mostert departed the game in the second quarter, but not before accumulating 107 yards from scrimmage on 10 touches, the longest an 80-yard TD run to kick off the scoring. Backfield mate Tevin Coleman, who also hurt his knee Sunday, eked out 12 yards on 14 carries, which he supplemented with two receptions (on two targets) for 28 yards. Because of those injuries, Jerick McKinnon (three rushes for 77 yards and a score) and Jeff Wilson (two runs for three yards) round out the 49ers' healthy…read more

Out for rest of Sunday's game
Mostert won't return to Sunday's game versus the Jets due to a knee injury, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Mostert went to the locker room early in the first half and didn't return after the break. He was excellent before his departure, totaling 107 yards and a touchdown on 10 touches. For the time being, Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon will handle a bulk of the backfield reps while Jeff Wilson also rotates in.

Posts 151 yards, TD vs. Cardinals
Mostert carried 15 times for 56 yards while catching four of five targets for 95 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Cardinals.
Analysis: Mostert struggled to break off many big gains as he finished averaging just 3.7 yards per carry against a respectable Cardinals front. He made a huge impact as a pass catcher, however, as he took a wheel route 76 yards to the end zone to put his team up 10 in the second quarter. Mostert notably out-touched Jerick McKinnon and Tevin Coleman by eight, indicating he should be in for a larger share of the touches this season. He will look to build on an excellent start next Sunday against the Jets.

Gets day off Tuesday
Mostert received a veteran's day off Tuesday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: At the start of Tuesday's practice, Mostert wasn't in uniform, with his only subsequent activity a brief stretching session with a 49ers trainer. With no injury to blame, he should be back on the field in the near future and retake the reins of what may be a three-headed backfield with Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon in 2020.

Gets pay bump
The 49ers and Mostert have restructured his contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: In early July, Mostert requested a trade from 49ers, citing dissatisfaction with the three-year extension he signed last offseason. As the month went on, the two sides worked to amend the situation, and it appears the running back has scored a pay raise on what was a $2.58 million base salary for 2020, as intimated by Mostert's agent, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com. Hoping to mend fences
Mostert recently spoke to a high-ranking member of the 49ers organization, hoping to work out his contract situation, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Entering the second season of a three-year, $8.65 million contract, Mostert approached the 49ers earlier this offseason in search of a pay raise or extension. Unhappy with the course of negotiations, the 28-year-old running back requested a trade a couple weeks ago. It appears he's still open to staying in San Francisco, but it isn't clear if Mostert will report for the start of training camp without a new contract in hand. Wants to match Coleman's salary
Mostert asked for a trade after the 49ers denied a request to bring his salary in line with teammate Tevin Coleman's, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Coleman has a $4.55 million base salary for the second and final season of his contract, while Mostert is scheduled to make $2.58 million in the second year of a three-year deal. The request for a modest raise seems reasonable, but agent Brett Tessler says discussions with the team have been unproductive. Asks for trade
Mostert submitted a trade request to the 49ers on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Mostert's request comes via his agent, Brett Tessler, following what Tessler describes as "months of unproductive talks with the 49ers about fairly adjusting" the running back's contract. Following the team's trade of Matt Breida to Miami earlier in the offseason, San Francisco's other backfield options currently include Tevin Coleman, Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson.

Aiming for 200 carries in 2020
Mostert indicated Wednesday that he's added muscle to his frame in preparation for a 200-carry workload in 2020, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Mostert held up well to the 190 carries he handled last season (postseason included), racking up 13 touchdowns and 1,108 yards (5.8 YPC). While he still has Tevin Coleman, Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson to contend with, the sixth-year back appears to be preparing for a larger volume of work after finishing the past season with a flourish. He compiled 117 of his 190 rushing attempts (61.6 percent) in the 49ers' eight contests from Week 13 through the Super Bowl.

Starting role strengthened
Mostert's projected starting role strengthened after Matt Breida was traded to the Dolphins in a draft-day deal, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Mostert was already expected to be the lead dog in a starting tandem with Tevin Coleman following a record-setting postseason run, but the departure of Breida clears up the backfield picture even more. Jerick McKinnon (knee) still is in the mix after restructuring his contract to stay in San Francisco, but the serious nature of his injury and utter lack of playing time since joining the team will likely land him in a reserve role. Scores in Super Bowl loss
Mostert carried the ball 12 times for 58 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 31-20 Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs. He also hauled in his only target for two yards.
Analysis: Though Mostert didn't come close to replicating his 220-yard, four-TD NFC Championship Game performance, he once again operated as the 49ers' top running back end and led the team's backfield while averaging a respectable 4.8 YPC. Given his efficiency, and the fact that San Francisco possessed a 10-point lead with the ball during the fourth quarter, it's fairly surprising that Mostert wasn't leaned on more heavily. Goes off for four scores
Mostert rushed 29 times for 220 yards and four touchdowns while also catching two passes for six yards in Sunday's 37-20 win over Green Bay in the NFC Championship Game.
Analysis: The 49ers' offensive line opened up gaping holes in the Packers' defensive front, and Mostert hit nearly every one of them for big chunks of yardage en route to a historic stat line. The 27-year-old's 220 rushing yards set a new playoff record for San Francisco and ranks second amongst all playoff rushers in the Super-Bowl era. Puts in full practice Wednesday
Mostert (calf) practiced in full Wednesday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Mostert tended to a calf cramp near the end of the 49ers' divisional-round victory against the Vikings, requiring an IV in the aftermath. He claimed no concerns about the issue at the time, and his listing on Wednesday's injury report confirms as much. While he may work behind Tevin Coleman (elbow) yet again Sunday versus the Packers, Mostert shouldn't be lacking for touches, as he's averaged 13.7 for 84.3 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring seven touchdowns over the last six contests.

All activity expected Wednesday
Mostert (calf) is in line to practice fully Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Mostert was knocked out late during this past Saturday's divisional-round win against the Vikings. Afterward, he termed his injury as a calf cramp and required an IV as a course of treatment. Assuming Mostert gets through this week unscathed, he seems poised to serve as the change-of-pace option to Tevin Coleman on Sunday against the Packers. Behind Coleman's 22 rushes for 105 yards, Mostert managed 12 carries for 58 yards in the 49ers' playoff opener.

Dealing with calf cramp
Mostert told Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com after Saturday's win against the Vikings that he exited in the fourth quarter due to a cramp in his calf.
Analysis: According to Mostert, he was treated with an IV and added that he dealt with "some sickness" during the week. Niners injury reports prior to the game didn't mention his name at all, but in any case he expects to be fine moving forward. On Saturday, Mostert took a back seat to Tevin Coleman (22 carries for 105 yards) out of the backfield but still contributed 58 yards on 12 rushes and recovered a muffed punt.

Mostert suffered a calf injury during Saturday's divisional-round game against the Vikings, Keiana Martin of the 49ers' official site reports.
Analysis: Considering he picked up the issue in the fourth quarter, Mostert is unlikely to make his presence felt again Saturday. Prior to his departure, he had 12 carries for 58 yards and recovered a muffed punt. Meanwhile, Tevin Coleman returned to a lead-back role, with more than 100 yards on the ground.

Mostert rushed 10 times for 57 yards and two touchdowns while gaining 16 more yards on his lone reception in Sunday's 26-21 win over Seattle.
Analysis: Mostert led the 49ers' backfield trio in touches and production for yet another week, finishing with the only usable stat line from the bunch from a fantasy perspective. Formerly known for his pure speed and special teams contributions, the 27-year-old was able to take advantage of playing time opened up by teammate injuries to establish himself as a big-play back. Gets into end zone Week 16
Mostert rushed 11 times for 53 yards and a touchdown and failed to bring in his only target in the 49ers' 34-31 win over the Rams on Saturday.
Analysis: As expected, Mostert led the rushing attack in production for the fifth-straight week, although he continues to split carries with Tevin Coleman (31 offensive snaps to Coleman's 24). The fifth-year pro did average an efficient 4.8 yards per tote with a long run of 16 yards on a late second-quarter touchdown rush. Spearheads backfield Week 15
Mostert ran for 54 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries while losing one fumble during Sunday's 29-22 loss to the Falcons. He also caught one of two targets for five receiving yards.
Analysis: Given that San Francisco ranks second behind only Baltimore with 32.6 rush attempts per game, possessing the 49ers' top back on a fantasy roster can be extremely valuable. The challenge this season has come in identifying who coach Kyle Shanahan will deploy as the top option, but in Week 15 Mostert garnered more than 63 percent of the team's RB carries and tallied a rushing score for the second straight outing. Emerging as lead back
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Mostert has given the 49ers "no choice" but to use him as the leader of the team's backfield, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Mostert first emerged in the lead role Week 13 at Baltimore, taking 21 touches for 154 yards and a touchdown while playing 74 percent of offensive snaps. Matt Breida's return from an ankle injury for Week 14 in New Orleans added some competition, but that didn't stop Mostert from getting a team-high 12 touches (for 109 yards and two scores) on 60 percent snap share. Leads running game with two scores
Mostert rushed 10 times for 69 yards and a touchdown, while also chipping in 40 receiving yards and another score on two receptions in Sunday's 48-46 victory over New Orleans.
Analysis: Mostert figured to revert back to a special teams role with both Matt Breida (ankle) and Tevin Coleman starting together again -- as he usually does in this scenario -- but the third-stringer ended up leading the backfield in touches (12), yards (109) and touchdowns (two). Playing time to be determined
Moster will have to contend with Tevin Coleman and the returning Matt Breida (ankle) for playing time on Sunday at New Orleans, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Mostert is on the heels of putting up a season-high 21 touches for 154 yards from scrimmage and one TD against a staunch Ravens defense Week 13. In that same contest, Coleman was contained to just six touches and 10 snaps on offense. With Breida back in action for the first time since Week 10, it'll be interesting to see if Mostert can approach such a workload. In the end, though, it's difficult to trust any of the trio versus the Saints' third-ranked run defense (88.6 yards per game).

Career game in loss
Mostert rushed 19 times for 146 yards and a touchdown while catching both of his targets for eight yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to Baltimore.
Analysis: Mostert took advantage of Matt Breida's (ankle) continued absence, serving as the much more effective half of a backfield platoon with Tevin Coleman and ultimately out-touching Coleman, 21-6. He broke free for a 40-yard touchdown in the second quarter en route to his first career 100-yard rushing performance. Breida could be ready to return against the Saints in Week 14, but Mostert likely will remain involved in the offense after this stellar showing, possibly at Coleman's expense.

Finds end zone in big win
Mostert rushed six times for 45 yards and a touchdown and caught a pass for 22 yards in Sunday's 37-8 win over Green Bay.
Analysis: Mostert got another "co-start" alongside Tevin Coleman with Matt Breida (ankle) held out of action again. The 27-year-old did more with less than Coleman, but the latter figures to remain the 1A if Breida is forced out of action against the Ravens in Week 13. Mostert is averaging 6.3 touches in the two-plus games without Breida, which keeps him in the deep-league range of fantasy value against Baltimore's ninth-ranked rush defense if this starting configuration holds.

Serving as the No. 2 again
Mostert will serve as the 49ers' No. 2 running back Sunday against the Packers with Matt Breida (ankle) sidelined.
Analysis: In the five games in which Mostert has received at least 29 percent of the offensive snaps this season, he's racked up 47 carries for 249 yards (5.3 YPC), six catches for 82 yards and one receiving TD. He'll be working behind Tevin Coleman in this contest, but Mostert has proved he doesn't need many touches to do damage both on the ground and through the air. Meanwhile, Jeff Wilson will round out the running backs on the 49ers' game-day roster.

Analysis: The 49ers capped Mostert's reps in every practice last week, so his elevation from LP on Wednesday to full participant Thursday signals the improved health of his knee. Struggles with expanded role
Mostert rushed six times for 13 yards and caught two balls on three targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 36-26 win over Arizona.
Analysis: Matt Breida (ankle) was unable to suit up due to injury, so Mostert moved into the vacant co-starter role alongside Tevin Coleman like he has done on occasion this season. Neither back was able to do much of anything against the Cardinals' front seven, but Mostert had an especially rough go of things when he failed to secure a well-placed rainbow from Jimmy Garoppolo on a wheel route that likely would have broke for a touchdown or a huge gain at the bare minimum. Analysis: Mostert is bumping up the depth chart temporarily with Matt Breida sidelined at least one game due to a low-ankle sprain. Working behind Tevin Coleman, Mostert will look to produce as he has previously this season, with his 5.5 yards-per-carry average translating well if he gets a healthy dose of runs. Mostert (knee) was listed as a limited practice participant Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Mostert is nearly one month removed from injuring his knee, and while the issue has impacted his practice reps at times, he's suited up in each of the 49ers' past four games. During that span, he's racked up 17 touches for 93 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD. Mostert (knee) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Mostert has been playing through the knee injury for about a month, so it's no real surprise to see him on the injury report again this week. The 27-year-old's ability to practice to start the week puts him on track to once again play through the injury Sunday against the Cardinals.

Gets seven touches
Mostert rushed six times for 28 yards and caught his lone target for seven yards in Monday night's 27-24 overtime loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Mostert was forced into a larger role after fellow tailback Matt Brieda was removed from the game due to an ankle injury. Although Mostert's overall production wasn't anything special, he was still efficient with his touches, as he usually is. With a season average of nearly 5.5 yards per rush, Mostert could gain value in Week 11 versus the Cardinals if Brieda's status is impacted by injury, as he'd then profile as San Francisco's top alternative to Tevin Coleman in the backfield.

Analysis: Mostert carried a questionable tag due to a knee injury up until game day. The speedy back was able to suit up, but the drop in usage may be related to his health.
