Logs full practice Thursday
Hooker (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hooker was limited in Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury, but that doesn't appear to be bothering him anymore as he was able to practice in full Thursday. Barring any setbacks, Hooker should be good to go against Tampa Bay on Sunday. Over his last five games, Hooker has registered 25 tackles (12 solo) and two interceptions.

Nursing ankle injury
Hooker (ankle) was limited during Wednesday's walkthrough practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hooker registered two solo tackles and played 48 defensive snaps during the Cowboys' Week 15 win over the Panthers. However, it appears he picked up an ankle injury in the process which limited him in Wednesday's walkthrough. Hooker will need to practice in full over the next two days in order to avoid an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

Snags pick in loss
Hooker tallied seven tackles (four solo) and an interception in the Cowboys' loss to the Bengals on Monday.
Analysis: Hooker was one of the few bright spots on Dallas' defense during Monday's loss as he recorded the team's only interception of Joe Burrow, which was his second of the campaign. Throughout 13 games played this season, the 2017 first-round pick has racked up 61 tackles (36 solo), which is just one short of his career high set back in 2022.

Hooker (shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Ravens and is expected to play, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Hooker was upgraded to full participation for Friday's practice and is ready to go Sunday. The 28-year-old safety has played 93 percent of the defensive snaps through two games, recording six tackles (three solo).

Dealing with shoulder injury
Hooker (shoulder) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Analysis: Hooker was added to Wednesday's injury report with a shoulder issue following the team's first practice of the week. He will have two more chances Thursday and Friday to increase his practice participation ahead of Sunday's game against Baltimore. The 2017 first-round pick has totaled six tackles (three solo) over the first two games of the regular season.

Role could shrink in 2024
Hooker may not see the same workload in 2024 under new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer that he did the last two seasons under Dan Quinn.
Analysis: The 28-year-old is a valuable part of the Cowboys' secondary, but Hooker averaged over 800 snaps the last two years as Quinn often used his safeties as linebackers in a hybrid role. Dallas has a much stronger LB corps this season, however, and Zimmer's scheme doesn't have a history of deploying safeties in the same way. Hooker totaled 112 tackles and four interceptions over 32 regular-season games the past two years, but he could be hard-pressed to repeat those numbers if his snap volume…read more

Reliable again in 2023
Hooker racked up 50 tackles (27 solo), three pass breakups, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery across 16 regular-season games with the Cowboys.
Analysis: Hooker has stayed mostly healthy across three seasons with Dallas and in that span ingratiated himself as one of the key members of the team's three-man safety rotation, alongside Jayron Kearse and Donovan Wilson. Hooker looks set for a similar role in the Cowboys secondary for the 2024 campaign, after which the team will have a potential 'out' from the 27-year-old's contract.

Questionable for Sunday
Hooker (ankle) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Commanders.
Analysis: The 27-year-old safety seems to be trending in the right direction to play Sunday, as he's gone from recording back-to-back DNPs to open the Cowboys' week of practice to a limited session Friday. If Hooker is unable to suit up in Week 18, Israel Mukuamu could see increased snaps as a rotational defensive back in Dallas' secondary.

Misses practice Wednesday
Hooker (ankle) did not participate at the Cowboys' practice Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Hooker has been dealing with an ankle injury for a few weeks, but he's played in the team's last two contests, making Wednesday's absence less concerning. The safety will look to practice in full capacity at one of the Cowboys' final two sessions of the week ahead of their regular-season finale versus the Commanders on Sunday.

Logs full practice Wednesday
Hooker (ankle) practiced without restrictions Wednesday, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis: Hooker missed Week 15 due to an ankle injury, but he was able to return and log 73 percent of Dallas' defensive snaps Sunday in a loss to Miami. The safety was deemed a limited participant in Tuesday's practice walk-through; however, his ability to practice in full one day later suggests that he didn't suffer any setbacks versus the Dolphins. As such, Hooker should be able to take the field Saturday in a key clash against the Lions.

Limited at walkthrough
Hooker (ankle) was considered to be a limited participant at the Cowboys' walkthrough Tuesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hooker was able to return from a one-game absence for Sunday's 22-20 loss to the Dolphins, recording four tackles (three solo) in the contest, so his status Tuesday isn't a major concern. He'll look to increase his workload at the team's final two sessions of the week prior to Saturday's matchup with the Lions.

Returning to action
Hooker (ankle) is active Sunday against the Dolphins, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Could return versus Miami
Hooker (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Bobby Belt of 105.3 The Fan Dallas reports.
Analysis: Hooker missed the Cowboys' Week 15 loss to the Bills due to an ankle injury he sustained the week prior against the Eagles. He was able to finish off the week with back-to-back limited practice sessions to give himself a chance to play Sunday. Hooker has 46 tackles (24 solo), one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery over 13 games this season.

Hooker (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Thursday after missing Wednesday's session, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.

Begins Week 16 prep with DNP
Hooker (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hooker missed Sunday's loss to Buffalo due to an ankle injury, and his chance of playing this coming Sunday in Miami is in question given his inability to practice Wednesday. The veteran safety had been consistently logging at least three-fourths of Dallas' defensive snaps prior to the injury, so another absence would be a significant blow to the team's secondary. Set to play Sunday vs. SF
Hooker (shoulder) does not have an injury designation for Sunday's Week 5 contest against the 49ers, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hooker appeared on the injury report with a shoulder issue after logging a limited practice session Wednesday. He was limited again Thursday but managed to return to full participation Friday. That was enough for the Cowboys to deem him ready to play Week 5 in a key NFC battle versus San Francisco. Hooker has been added to the Cowboys' injury report ahead of their Week 1 matchup with the Giants as questionable due to an illness, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Hooker's final status will ultimately depend on how he is feeling closer to kickoff. With Donovan Wilson (calf) deemed doubtful, the 27-year-old Hooker is trending toward a bigger role at free safety should he get the green light. Analysis: Per Clarence E. Puts together solid season
Hooker recorded 62 tackles (44 solo) with three interceptions and a fumble recovery for a touchdown over 16 regular-season games in 2022.
Analysis: The 26-year-old safety stayed mostly healthy, missing only a Week 8 contest against the Bears due to a hamstring strain, and as a result Hooker put together the most productive season of his career. The Cowboys' trio of safeties (Hooker, Donovan Wilson and Jayron Kearse) all posted strong numbers in coordinator Dan Quinn's defense, but with Wilson a free agent and potentially headed elsewhere, Hooker could see an increased workload in 2023.

Scores TD against former club
Hooker recorded two tackles and returned a fumble for a 38-yard touchdown in Sunday's 54-19 win over the Colts.
Analysis: The safety was taken 15th overall by Indianapolis in the 2017 NFL Draft, but his career with the Colts was marred by multiple injuries and he joined the Cowboys as a free agent last season. Hooker got some revenge against his former employers by scooping up a fumble and racing down the sidelines for the second of five Dallas TDs in the fourth quarter. The 26-year-old has stayed healthy this year and through 11 games he has 43 tackles, eight shy of his prior career high.

Hooker (hamstring) logged a full practice session Wednesday, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.
Analysis: Hooker was unable to practice at all Week 8 and ended up missing the win over the Bears. However, he had time to recover during Dallas' subsequent bye week and appears to be back near full health. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks during practice this week, Hooker should be able to return to his big role in the Cowboys' secondary Sunday in Green Bay.

Hooker (hamstring) is inactive Sunday against the Bears, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Viewed as game-time call
Hooker (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Bears, is considered a game-time decision, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Even though Hooker's hamstring injury kept him sidelined for practice all week, the Cowboys aren't closing the door on the sixth-year safety suiting up. After playing north of 70 percent of the snaps on defense in each of Dallas' first six games, Hooker dropped down to a season-low 51 percent snap share in the Week 7 win over Detroit, with the hamstring issue perhaps contributing to his lighter-than-normal playing time.

Hooker (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Dozen tackles against Eagles
Hooker recorded a team-high 12 tackles (10 solo) in Sunday's loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: The veteran safety not only set a season high in tackles, he ties his personal career high -- a mark he'd previously reached as a Colt in 2018. Hooker already has 34 tackles through six games, and if he can stay healthy, he's on pace to shatter his prior personal best of 51 set over 13 games in 2019.

Analysis: Hooker tested positive for the virus and was sidelined for the Cowboys' Week 16 blowout win over Washington. Big performance in Sunday's win
Hooker recorded six tackles (five solo) and an interception in Sunday's win over the Giants.
Analysis: The Dallas defense held New York to just two field goals on the afternoon thanks in part to four turnovers, including Hooker's first INT of the year. The former Colt was also one off the team lead in tackles for the game, and he needs just 14 more over the final three games to establish a new career high for a season in that category. Hooker is believed to have a torn Achilles, and he'll have an MRI on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: While it hasn't been confirmed via MRI, Hooker is expected to miss the rest of the 2020 season. The 2017 first-round pick missed 14 games over his first three seasons in the league, so this is another tough development for the free safety. Analysis: He struggled in coverage, giving up a touchdown on the one pass targeted at him, according to Pro Football Focus. He also didn't make the big plays the Colts needed on several deep balls. Fifth year uncertain
Hooker will not have his fifth-year option exercised before the 2020 NFL Draft, Joel Erickson of the IndyStar reports.
Analysis: Hooker has been a playmaker at times throughout his career, recording seven interceptions across three seasons. However, injuries have plagued the safety throughout his career, as he missed half of his rookie season with an ACL injury and missed three games in 2019 due to a meniscus tear. Those injuries have also hampered his ability to become an effective coverage safety, which might play a part in why the Colts have taken their time in offering an extension.

Analysis: Hooker began the week not practicing but progressed to full participation Friday, which should put him on track to play Week 16. The 23-year-old hasn't missed a defensive snap in the last four games and seems likely to play his usual starting role Sunday.

Nursing hand injury
Hooker was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report.
Analysis: Hooker apparently sustained the injury during Monday's loss to the Saints, though he still played every defensive snap. The 23-year-old likely will need to practice in some capacity Thursday or Friday to have a chance to suit up Week 16.

Will play Sunday
Hooker (foot) is officially active for Sunday's matchup against the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Hooker turned in full practice time in Friday's session, so this news isn't quite surprising. The Ohio State product is expected to assume his usual starting role as the team's starting free safety for Week 14 now that he's healthy.

Questionable for Week 14
Hooker (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Hooker turned in a limited practice Wednesday, sat out Thursday and put in a full session Friday. The 23-year-old has dealt with knee issues for much of the season, but his current foot problem surfaced this week.

Generates seven stops
Hooker recorded seven tackles (two solo) in Thursday's 20-17 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Hooker battled a knee injury during the short practice week, but he looked anything but bothered as he achieved a season high in stops. The former first-rounder also had a key tackle on Duke Johnson in the third quarter that forced the Texans to settle for a field goal. Hooker now has 33 tackles, two pass breakups and an interception through eight games.

Practices in full Friday
Hooker (knee) does not have an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Analysis: Hooker missed Thursday's practice but was a full participant Friday. He's made 13 tackles (seven solo) with no interceptions or sacks in three games since returning from meniscus surgery.

Tending to knee issue
Hooker did not participate in Thursday's practice due to a knee injury.
Analysis: Hooker underwent surgery to trim his meniscus Sept. 24, and he's received periodic days off from practice since retaking the field Week 8. It remains to be seen whether his current absence signifies anything more than rep management to maintain his health. If he's able to suit up against the Jaguars on Sunday, Hooker stands to play his usual every-down role.

Upgrades to full practice
Hooker (knee) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Hooker was unable to practice in any capacity Wednesday, but he now appears to have shed his knee issue. Barring any setbacks, the third-year pro looks primed for his usual starting role versus the Dolphins on Sunday.

Unable to practice
Hooker (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: Hooker was held out of last Friday's practice but was active for this past Sunday's loss to the Steelers. He logged 56 of a possible 63 snaps (89 percent) in the contest and made five tackles. Hooker was an every-snap player last season, so it appears the Colts are holding him back slightly to help maintain his health. The third-year pro may be on a similar track for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Ready to rock
Hooker (knee) is officially listed as active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Analysis: The 2017 first-round pick was held out entirely of Friday's practice session, so the fact that he's playing is a big positive for the defense. Now that he's officially healthy, expect Hooker to assume his usual role as the team's starting free safety for Week 9.

Draws questionable tag
Hooker (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Steelers.
Analysis: Hooker practiced in full Wednesday, but he was then limited Thursday and held out entirely during Friday's session. It remains to be seen whether the starting safety suffered a setback in his recovery or if his lack of practice is simply a result of rep management.
