Gets new deal
Kennedy signed a one-year contract with the Lions on Monday, Howard Balzer of SI.com reports.
Analysis: Kennedy appeared in 12 games with Detroit last season, recording six catches on 10 targets for 54 yards. The 25-year-old has been in-and-out of the Lions' organization since 2019 and has yet to make an impact. He'll work to change that in 2022.

Throws long TD in season finale
Kennedy caught two of two targets for 16 yards while completing his only pass for 75 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 37-30 win over Green Bay.
Analysis: Kennedy finished a distant fourth among Lions receivers in offensive snaps but made his mark on a trick play when he hit Kalif Raymond for a long touchdown pass in the first quarter. However, the 5-foot-10 slot receiver didn't do much else, and he will finish the 2021 campaign with six catches on 10 targets for 54 receiving yards. The soon-to-be exclusive-rights free agent will now enter the offseason with a decent chance to return to a depth role for Detroit in 2022.

No catches on three targets
Kennedy saw three targets but did not record a catch during Sunday's 51-29 loss to Seattle.
Analysis: Kennedy was in line for an expanded role with both Kalif Raymond and Josh Reynolds on the COVID-19 list. While he logged a season-high 24 offensive snaps, Kennedy clearly was the fourth receiver behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, KhaDarel Hodge and Trinity Benson. With his playing time only set to decrease should Raymond or Reynolds gain medical clearance in the coming week, Kennedy will not be an advisable fantasy option when Detroit hosts Green Bay in Week 18.

Expanded role likely awaits
Kennedy is expected to see an increased role within Detroit's receiving corps Sunday against the Seahawks with both Josh Reynolds (illness) and Kalif Raymond (illness) on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: No. 1 wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown and running backs D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams are probably the safest bets to earn targets from quarterback Tim Boyle, but the likes of Kennedy, KhaDarel Hodge, Trinity Benson and Javon McKinley could all see increased snaps with two starting receivers out of the lineup. Kennedy led the quartet with a 31 percent snap share and two targets in the Week 16 loss to Atlanta, so he's probably the most likely candidate of that group to produce a useful stat line.

Elevated by Lions
Kennedy was elevated from the Lions' practice squad ahead of Sunday's game against the Browns.
Analysis: Kennedy appeared in four games earlier in the year and secured one of two targets for 15 yards. He's unlikely to have a significant fantasy impact Sunday.

Joins Detroit's practice squad
Kennedy was signed to the Lions' practice squad Wednesday.
Analysis: Kennedy was waived by the Lions on Monday, but he has returned to Detroit's organization as a member of the practice squad. The 25-year-old wideout has appeared in five games during his NFL career, catching just one of two targets for 15 yards.

Waived by Detroit
Kennedy was waived by the Lions on Monday.
Analysis: Kennedy appeared in four games for the Lions this season, registering one catch for 15 yards. The 25-year-old will have to look for a new opportunity after being a part of Detroit's organization since 2019.

Gets snaps on offense
Kennedy logged nine offensive snaps during Sunday's 28-19 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: With Quintez Cephus (collarbone) joining Tyrell Williams (concussion) on injured reserve, Kennedy and Geronimo Allison have gotten some playing time the past two games while Trinity Benson has been a healthy scratch.

Logs handful of offensive snaps
Kennedy logged four offensive snaps during Monday's 35-17 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: After being a healthy scratch in last week's season opener, Kennedy was active in Week 2 thanks to the absence of Tyrell Williams (concussion). However, Kennedy probably won't be suiting up in Week 3 if Williams can clear concussion protocol in time for Sunday's matchup with Baltimore.

Healthy scratch
Kennedy was inactive for Sunday's 41-33 loss to the 49ers.
Analysis: While Kennedy was a healthy scratch, he could see playing time in Week 2 if Tyrell Williams (undisclosed) is forced to miss time.

Survives roster cuts
Kennedy has a spot on the regular-season roster, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Analysis: Despite a strong preseason showing, there was doubt Kennedy would make the team after Detroit acquired Trinity Benson from Denver earlier in the day. However, it appears Kennedy will stick around to contribute as a return man on special teams as well as a depth option at receiver.

Racking up stats
Kennedy caught four of four targets for 61 yards during Saturday's preseason loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: Kennedy led the Lions in receiving for the second consecutive preseason game. With Detroit likely to rest most of its starters in the preseason finale next Friday against the Colts, Kennedy could see even more work.

Signs future deal
Kennedy signed a reserve/future contract with the Lions on Tuesday.
Analysis: Kennedy has spent the better part of his first two NFL seasons with the Lions, although he's suited up in just one game. The 24-year-old wideout will vie for a depth role in 2021.

Cut by Lions
The Lions signed Kennedy to the practice squad Sunday.
Analysis: Kennedy had a solid training camp but ultimately came up short of making the active roster, as the team decided to only retain six wideouts. He'll remain with the club as a member of the practice squad for the time being.
