Bass signed a four-year extension worth up to $21 million Thursday, Peter Schrager of FoxSports.com reports.
Analysis: Bass has spent the first three years of his professional career in Buffalo. He has emerged as one of the league's most accurate kickers in that span, making 88 and 87 percent of his kicks in the last two seasons, respectively. Under the terms of his extension, which keeps him with the Bills through the 2027 season, the 26-year-old has been rewarded with at least $12.3 million in guaranteed money.

Analysis: Bass became only the second kicker in NFL history -- Justin Tucker being the other -- to make three 50-plus yarders in the first half of a game. The rookie has a big leg, and he has some decent job security after connecting on 22 of 28 field-goal attempts (78.6 percent) and 31 of 32 extra-point tries so far this season. Bass is also adept at getting touchbacks on kickoffs, as he's tied for third in the league with 40 of them so far.

One ugly miss

Analysis: The miss was on a 52-yarder to end the half and was wide enough right to say the golfer's equivalent would be pushing a drive all the way over to the other fairway. The rookie was true on his other three attempts, which all in all isn't too bad on a chilly, misty day, Bass' first experience with Buffalo's sometimes inclement weather. After six weeks, Bass sits in a tie for 23rd in fantasy kicker scoring with 36 points. Part of that is due to the team's 73.9 red-zone touchdown percentage.

To battle with Hauschka
Special teams coordinator Heath Farwell confirmed Friday that Stephen Hauschka will enter the summer as the team's top kicker, but Bass will have a chance to unseat the veteran in an open competition, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. "Then you have a young player like Tyler who is loaded with talent," Farwell said. "He has a lot of ton of upside, but he's got to prove it in the preseason and training camp."

Analysis: Bass and his booming leg were taken out of Georgia State in the sixth round of the recent draft.
