Limited production as rookie
Asiasi finished the 2020 season with two catches on seven targets for 39 yards yards and a TD in nine games.
Analysis: Meanwhile, fellow rookie tight end Dalton Keene caught three passes for 16 yards in six contests. It was hardly the production the Patriots were looking for when using a pair of third-round draft picks to secure the duo, but both players do possess some long-term upside. It's a bit early to assess Asiasi's 2021 fantasy prospects, however, with personnel changes in the team's offense likely on tap this offseason, both at TE and QB.

Sees 47 snaps on offense
Asiasi was on the field for 47 of the Patriots' 50 snaps on offense in Monday night's 38-9 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Despite the season high in playing time, Asiasi was targeted just twice and didn't record a catch Monday. With the 2020 third-rounder still looking for his first NFL catch, Asiasi remains off the fantasy radar heading into Week 17.

Posts 23 snaps in return to action
Asiasi logged 23 of a possible 59 snaps on offense in Thursday's 24-3 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: Meanwhile, fellow rookie tight end Dalton Keene was out there for 31 snaps, but neither player caught a pass Thursday. With Ryan Izzo (hamstring/hand/neck) on IR and Jordan Thomas having been a healthy scratch Week 14, both Asiasi -- who saw one target versus the Rams -- and Keene could be incorporated more in the Patriots offense down the stretch. Until that happens, however, neither player merits fantasy consideration.

Comes off IR
Asiasi (undisclosed) has been activated off IR in advance of Thursday night's game against the Rams, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Meanwhile, Ryan Izzo (hamstring/hand/neck) was placed on IR, leaving Asiasi, Dalton Keene and Jordan Thomas as the Patriots' available tight ends Week 14. Though Asiasi has some long-term potential, he has yet to record a catch through his first five games as a pro and therefore has much to prove before he can be considered for fantasy lineups.

Practice window officially opens
Asiasi (undisclosed) is present at Wednesday's practice, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: New England will now have a 21-day window to evaluate Asiasi at practice without his counting against the active roster. The rookie tight end has appeared in five games this season, but he's still looking to garner his first career catch.

Moves to injured reserve
Asiasi (personal) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The 23-year-old missed Sunday's loss to Buffalo due to personal reasons, but it's unclear why he was moved to injured reserve. Asiasi will be sidelined for at least the next three games. He's played only 81 snaps in five games this season, so his absence is unlikely to impact New England's gameplans.

Won't be available Week 8
Asiasi didn't travel with the Patriots to Buffalo due to personal reasons and won't be available for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Analysis: Though Ryan Izzo (seven receptions for 90 yards in six games) has been one of the NFL's least-productive starting tight ends, neither Asiasi nor fellow rookie Dalton Keene (knee) has been able to make a major push for reps during their rookie seasons. Asiasi's absence Week 8 could still prove costly from a depth standpoint, as the Patriots would have no other available tight ends behind Izzo if Keene -- who is listed as questionable -- is unable to suit up.

Inactive Sunday
Asiasi is inactive for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Doug Kyed of NESN.com reports.
Analysis: Asiasi has yet to be targeted through five games this season and is a healthy scratch Sunday. As a result, fellow third-round tight end Dalton Keene is slated to make his NFL debut.

Logs 29 snaps
Asiasi was on the field for 29 of a possible 69 snaps on offense in Sunday's 36-20 win over the Raiders, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: That's a season high for the rookie, but he wasn't targeted in the contest. For now, New England's tight ends aren't a big part of the team's passing attack, and Asiasi's fantasy upside is limited in that context, especially because he continues to be out-snapped by Ryan Izzo (43).

Sees 10 snaps in debut
Asiasi was on the field for 10 of a possible 64 snaps on offense in Sunday's 21-11 win over the Dolphins, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Asiasi was not targeted in the game, while Ryan Izzo saw action on 63 snaps and hauled in one of his two targets for 25 yards. Down the road, Asiasi and fellow rookie Dalton Keene (neck) -- who was inactive Sunday -- should get into the team's pass-catching mix, but for now no New England tight end is a reliable fantasy option.

Absent from injury report
Asiasi (foot/ankle) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report.
Analysis: Asiasi suffered an injury toward the end of training camp, but it doesn't look like it was too serious, as the tight end will be ready to make his NFL debut Sunday versus the Dolphins. The rookie third-round pick will likely split snaps with Ryan Izzo and Dalton Keene to start the years since there's no clear No. 1 among the bunch. However, there's plenty of targets up for grabs, as Julian Edelman (knee) and James White are the only players with locked-in target shares.

Returns to limited practice
Asiasi (foot/ankle) was able to practice in a limited fashion Wednesday, Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston reports.
Analysis: Asiasi was forced out of Tuesday's practice after appearing to suffer a foot or ankle injury, but his presence on the field Wednesday indicates that the issue was minor. He and fellow 2020 third-round tight end Dalton Keene are looking to carve out roles in the New England offense as rookies, with Darren Hartwell of NBC Sports Boston noting that Asiasi had "been plenty solid in the first week of workouts" prior to his exit from Tuesday's practice. For his part, Keene has shown well in practice…read more

Hurts foot/ankle in practice
Asiasi left Tuesday's practice to receive medical attention on his foot and/or ankle, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
Analysis: Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal said Asiasi and fellow rookie tight end Dalton Keene both enjoyed their best practice of training camp the day prior. While fantasy contributions from rookie TEs are few and far between, the state of the New England depth chart suggests the team will need at least one of the two to handle a bunch of snaps. This injury could crack the door open for Keene, though initial reports don't hint at Asiasi's issue being too serious.
