Disappointing debut campaign
Brown finished his 2021 rookie season with 12 catches for 165 yards on 25 targets, playing 15 of 17 games and logging 335 snaps on offense.
Analysis: The third-round pick started his first three games and five of his first six, yet entered the midpoint of the season with only eight catches for 81 yards. Brown then averaged only 11.2 snaps on offense over his final 10 games, stuck in a bench role even as Washington had minimal success finding productive pass catchers apart from top WR Terry McLaurin. While the 22-year-old Brown could get another shot at a starting job come spring/summer, there's no doubt his initial pro campaign was…read more

Catches two passes
Brown played 13 snaps in Sunday's 56-14 loss to Dallas and caught both his targets for 53 yards.
Analysis: It's been a quiet rookie year for the third-round pick, even though he got plenty of playing time early on. He's been either injured or buried on the depth chart since October, but Brown finally made a big play with his 48-yard gain in the first quarter of Sunday's loss. While a starting job may not be in the cards this year, it is possible Brown gets a little more playing time over the final couple weeks of the season, perhaps stealings snaps from DeAndre Carter.

Catches only target
Brown caught his only target for six yards during Sunday's 17-15 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Brown played just six offensive snaps, sixth most among Washington's wideouts. The rookie third-round pick has continued to see his playing time significantly drop off since the beginning of the season and remains a long shot for a breakout down the stretch. It's unclear if the reduced snaps has anything to do with a lingering issue from the knee injury he suffered against the Packers in Week 7, or if it's strictly performance-based. Regardless, he likely remains a risky fantasy option moving…read more

Limited to eight snaps
Brown played eight snaps on offense without drawing any targets in Sunday's 29-19 win over the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Curtis Samuel (groin) was out again, but Washington otherwise had all its wide receivers healthy and chose to use DeAndre Carter (3-56-1 on six targets and 67 percent snap share) as its No. 2 receiver. Brown, Dax Milne (27 percent) and Cam Sims (18 percent) also rotated in for some snaps, but it was mostly Carter and slot specialist Adam Humphries (52 percent) lining up alongside No. 1 receiver Terry McLaurin (96 percent). The lack of playing time makes Brown a long shot for a breakout in the…read more

Playing in Week 10
Brown (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
Analysis: After logging limited practices Wednesday through Friday, Brown entered the weekend as questionable for Week 10 action. Now clear to play for the first time since Week 7, he should be in the mix for targets behind Terry McLaurin and slot receiver Adam Humphries with Curtis Samuel again sidelined due to a lingering groin injury. Brown, a rookie third-round pick, hasn't been efficient with his 20 targets in six appearances this season, putting together just eight catches for 81 yards and no…read more

Questionable for Sunday
Brown (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: With Curtis Samuel (groin) out at least one more week, Brown could have a starting spot if he ends up playing. Of course, he hasn't been able to turn snaps and routes into targets and catches this year, and Washington could also give DeAndre Carter and Cam Sims some chances across from go-to guy Terry McLaurin.

Limited Thursday
Brown (knee) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Brown maintained his activity level on the practice field out of Washington's bye after sitting out the team's last game Week 8 due to a knee issue. With Curtis Samuel (groin) unlikely to be available Sunday versus the Buccaneers, Brown could be the other outside receiver opposite Terry McLaurin this weekend while Adam Humphries mans the slot.

Practicing after bye
Brown (knee) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Brown is back at practice after a bye week, having missed Week 8 with the knee injury beforehand. He may be a starter if he makes it back for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, as Curtis Samuel (groin) appears unlikely to play this weekend. The other options for perimeter snaps across from Terry McLaurin are Cam Sims (hamstring), DeAndre Carter, Antonio Gandy-Golden and Dax Milne.

Won't play this week
Brown (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Denver, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: With Brown and Curtis Samuel (groin) both out, Cam Sims could be in the mix for a start this week, though he's listed as questionable after missing the past three games with a hamstring injury. The other options to line up alongside Terry McLaurin and slot man Adam Humphries are DeAndre Carter, Dax Milne and Antonio Gandy-Golden.

Absent from practice again
Brown (knee) did not practice Thursday.
Analysis: Brown exited Sunday's game with a knee injury and underwent an MRI on Monday. He has missed both practices this week, so his availability appears to be in jeopardy Sunday at Denver.

Misses practice with knee injury
Brown (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Brown was able to do some work on a side field two days after getting an MRI. His presence on the field seemingly confirms the injury is minor, but it doesn't necessarily mean he'll be ready for Sunday's game against the Packers. Terry McLaurin (ankle) and Curtis Samuel (groin) also missed practice Wednesday.

Slated for MRI
Brown (knee) will undergo an MRI on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Although Brown will undergo further testing after he left Sunday's loss to the Packers, his injury is believed to be minor. However, the receiver is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Broncos and should be evaluated again after Washington's Week 9 bye.

Exits Sunday's game
Brown was forced out of Sunday's game against the Packers with a knee injury.
Analysis: Prior to his exit from the contest, Brown hadn't been targeted. The 2021 third-rounder is coming off a Week 6 effort that saw him catch three of his six targets for 30 yards in Washington's 31-13 loss to Kansas City.

Ready for Sunday
Brown (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Green Bay, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: With both Curtis Samuel (groin) and Cam Sims (hamstring) ruled out, Brown could match or even top his snap share (80 percent) and target volume (six) from the Week 6 loss to Kansas City. However, the rookie has caught just eight of 20 targets for 81 yards, unable to make an impact despite averaging 44.6 snaps in his five appearances. Brown missed Week 5 with a minor knee injury that's apparently still lingering, but he didn't appear to be limited in his Week 6 return and isn't listed on the…read more

Limited once again
Brown (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Brown was available for Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Chiefs and hauled in three of six targets for 30 yards. He's had his reps capped in practice to begin the week, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him take the field Sunday against Green Bay.

Limited participant in practice
Brown (knee) was limited in Washington's practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Brown has been dealing with an aggravated knee injury since Week 5 when he was unable to suit up against the Saints. The receiver was limited and listed as questionable leading up to Week 6, but he managed to play against the Chiefs. Expect Brown to be able to play in Week 7 barring any setbacks.

Cleared for Sunday's game
Brown (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Analysis: After missing Washington's Week 5 loss to the Saints, Brown managed limited participation in practices Wednesday through Friday and was listed as questionable heading into the weekend before gaining clearance ahead of Sunday's matchup. With Curtis Samuel (groin) and Cam Sims (hamstring) both inactive for Week 6, Brown could step into a top-three role at receiver alongside Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries.

Questionable for Week 6
Brown (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: If he returns after missing one game, the rookie could take on a larger role than usual. In addition to WRs Curtis Samuel (groin) and Cam Sims (knee) being ruled out, Washington has top receiver Terry McLaurin (hamstring) listed as questionable. James Palmer of NFL Network reports that McLaurin is on track to play, but if not, Washington could be left with Brown, Adam Humphries and DeAndre Carter as the regular trio for three-wide formations. First, we'll need to see if Brown and/or McLaurin is…read more

Limited again Thursday
Brown (knee) was a limited participant at Thursday's practice, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Brown didn't appear in Sunday's game against the Saints due to his knee injury, but he's practiced in a limited capacity on each of the last two days. The rookie could enter Week 6 without an injury designation if he's a full participant in Friday's practice.

Works as limited participant
Brown (knee) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Brown was unavailable for Sunday's loss to the Saints due to the knee injury, but he's putting himself on a good path to suit up Week 6 against the Chiefs. The rookie third-round pick should be able to avoid an injury designation if he can practice with no limitations Thursday or Friday.

Unavailable for Week 5
Brown (knee) won't suit up against the Saints on Sunday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Brown injured his knee in the Week 4 win over Atlanta and will miss at least one game as a result of the injury. The rookie third-round pick will look to heal up before a Week 6 showdown with the Chiefs, at which time he'll have an opportunity to add to his season totals of five catches (on 14 targets) for 51 yards.

Idle for another practice
Brown (knee) won't participate in Thursday's practice, Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Since he's starting the week with a pair of absences from practice, Brown will presumably need to take part in Friday's session in at least a limited capacity just to take a questionable designation into Sunday's matchup with the Saints. With all of Brown, Curtis Samuel (groin) and Cam Sims (hamstring) tending to injuries and having yet to fully practice this week, DeAndre Carter or Dax Milne could see added reps in three-receiver sets alongside Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries if none of the…read more

Misses practice with knee injury
Brown (knee) isn't practicing Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Brown and Cam Sims (hamstring) both suffered injuries in the second half of the Week 4 win over Atlanta, which also happened to be Curtis Samuel's first game in a Washington uniform. Even if he returns to health quickly, Brown may be the team's fourth or fifth wide receiver at this point.

Sustains knee injury
Brown won't return to Sunday's game in Atlanta due to a knee injury, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Prior to his departure, Brown hauled in one of two passes for 19 yards. The rookie third-rounder hasn't done much through four games, with a cumulative 5-51-0 receiving line on 13 targets and one carry for minus-4 yards. With Cam Sims (hamstring) also ruled out of this contest, Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, Adam Humphries and DeAndre Carter are Washington's healthy and active wide receivers.

Finishes without a catch
Brown finished without a catch on two targets and took one carry for a loss of four yards in Sunday's 43-21 loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: The rookie third-round pick hasn't done much through his first three games, despite handling the No. 2 receiver role -- at least in terms of snaps -- while Curtis Samuel (groin) has been on injured reserve throughout September. Samuel is eligible to return Week 4 at Atlanta, but it won't come as any surprise if he misses another game, which could allow Brown to make another start. The rookie has caught just four of his 12 targets for 32 yards.

Puts up 34 yards
Brown caught three of six targets for 34 yards in Thursday's 30-29 win over the Giants.
Analysis: Brown finished fifth on the team in receiving and tied for fourth in targets, again working with Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries as part of Washington's regular trio for three-wide sets. Curtis Samuel (groin) can return from IR as soon as Week 4, but while he eventually figures to take a lot of Brown's snaps, it isn't yet clear when Samuel will be ready. Washington does have Cam Sims as an option for perimeter snaps if Brown can't get going soon, but even if the latter isn't seeing many…read more

Handles every-down role
Brown caught just one of four targets for a two-yard loss in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Chargers, but he did play 93 percent of Washington's snaps on offense.
Analysis: The rookie third-round pick actually tied Terry McLaurin for second on the team in targets, as QBs Ryan Fitzpatrick and Taylor Heinicke combined for only 21 pass attempts in a game where Washington emphasized Antonio Gibson but got smashed in the possession battle anyway. While the rookie didn't exactly shine in his regular-season debut, Brown did have a solid grip on the No. 2 receiver role from a playing time standpoint, with Cam Sims poaching just two snaps all afternoon. Of course, Brown…read more

In the mix to start?
Brown and Cam Sims are the top candidates to see more snaps after Curtis Samuel (groin) was placed on injured reserve Friday, Peter Hailey of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Analysis: Samuel has filled a few different roles over the years, and in Washington he was expected to be the No. 2 receiver, likely taking a lot of perimeter snaps given that slot specialist Adam Humphries also is on the team. Samuel's absence could lead to more touches for Humphries and satellite back J.D. McKissic, but Brown and Sims are more likely to benefit in terms of snap count. Another pair of catches
Brown recorded two receptions on four targets for 33 yards in Friday's preseason game against Cincinnati.
Analysis: Brown had mixed results in his second professional game. He began the contest with a drop -- albeit on a tough opportunity -- but he bounced back to record a 29-yard catch over cornerback Darius Phillips. With Curtis Samuel (groin) still sidelined, Brown had valuable reps with presumed starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Though he may start the season in a reserve role, Brown figures to have the chance to enter three-receiver sets at some point in the campaign.

Catches two passes
Brown caught two of four targets for 16 yards in Thursday's preseason loss to New England.
Analysis: The rookie third-round pick had a seven-yard gain late in the first quarter on a completion from QB Taylor Heinicke, who then missed Brown on a deep pass on the very next snap. The two later hooked up for nine yards on a 3rd-and-3 shortly before halftime, setting up Washington's first TD of the night. It was a solid first showing for Brown, especially given that none of Washington's other wide receivers had big games. He might even get some reps as the No. 2 receiver if Curtis Samuel (groin)…read more
