Splits with Davis in Hall's absence
Allen rushed 11 times for 43 yards while catching four of five targets for 38 yards in Sunday's 32-26 overtime loss to the Dolphins.
Analysis: Allen split time evenly with Isaiah Davis in the absence of lead back Breece Hall (knee), as both rookie running backs had 16 combined carries and targets. The biggest play between the two was a 17-yard touchdown run by Davis in the second quarter, while Allen has still scored only once since his two-touchdown performance back in Week 2. If Hall remains unavailable in Week 15, both Allen and Davis would have substantial fantasy value against the vulnerable Jacksonville defense.

Set to help fill in for Hall
Allen is expected to take on an expanded role out of the Jets backfield Sunday against the Dolphins due to Breece Hall (knee) being ruled out for the contest, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Jets aren't planning on shutting Hall down for the season, but with the star tailback set to miss his first game of 2024 on Sunday, Allen could be in store for the biggest snap and touch counts of his young career. Allen hasn't played more than 36 percent of snaps or handled more than 14 touches in any of the Jets' first 12 games, and though he reeled off some impressive runs early on in the season, he's averaging just 2.8 yards per carry over his last eight…read more

Seven touches against Seahawks
Allen rushed five times for 11 yards and caught both of his targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 26-21 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Breece Hall got only 12 touches while playing through a knee injury, but third-stringer Isaiah Davis saw a bigger uptick in usage than Allen, as Davis scored his first NFL touchdown on one of his career-high four touches. With Hall still firmly entrenched atop the depth chart and Davis pushing for a larger role, Allen continues to have minimal short-term fantasy value ahead of a Week 14 trip to Miami.

Two carries in Week 11 loss
Allen rushed twice for six yards and wasn't targeted in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: Allen worked as a distant No. 2 behind Breece Hall, who turned 16 carries and seven targets into 121 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. As long as Hall's healthy, Allen's little more than an insurance policy to be stashed on fantasy benches.

Seven carries in blowout loss
Allen gained 27 rushing yards on seven carries and caught his only target for seven yards in Sunday's 31-6 loss to Arizona.
Analysis: Allen has 60 rushing attempts and 16 targets through his first 10 NFL games, so his usage Sunday was right in line with the rookie's averages. After averaging 4.8 yards per carry on 27 attempts through Week 4, Allen has regressed to 2.8 YPC on 33 carries over the last six games as he continues to work in a change-of-pace role behind Breece Hall.

Back to reduced role Thursday
Allen rushed four times for nine yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Jets' 21-13 win over the Texans on Thursday night.
Analysis: Allen logged 12 carries and a rushing touchdown in Week 8 against the Patriots, but four days later, the rookie was back under 10 rushing yards and without a catch for the third time in the last four games. Allen's usage is clearly volatile from week to week despite the success he's enjoyed at times, leaving him as an unreliable option for a Week 10 road matchup against the Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 10.

TD among 12 carries in Week 8
Allen rushed 12 times for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 25-22 loss to the Patriots. He wasn't targeted in the passing game.
Analysis: Allen's two-yard rushing touchdown gave the Jets a 22-17 lead with 2:57 remaining, but the Jets failed on their subsequent two-point conversion attempt and the Patriots responded with a game-winning touchdown drive. Breece Hall (16 carries for 80 yards) was far more efficient on the ground, so Allen will likely need to make the most of his opportunities near the goal line to maintain any fantasy relevance. Allen's heavier workload compared to recent weeks may have been an effort to keep Hall…read more

Just three touches again
Allen rushed twice for four yards and caught his only target for two yards in Sunday's 37-15 loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: Allen was pushing for a timeshare with Breece Hall early in the season, but the rookie has faded into clear backup territory in the last two games, with six touches compared to Hall's 41 over that span. The shiftier Hall is better with the ball in space as a pass catcher out of the backfield, and the Jets' struggling offensive line hasn't opened up many holes for either running back on the ground. Allen will be little more than a bench stash in fantasy unless his usage trends back up.

Has crucial TD called back
Allen rushed three times for eight yards and didn't catch either of his two targets in Monday's 23-20 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: After shaking up their coaching staff, the Jets recommitted to Breece Hall as their clear No. 1 running back, and he finished with 169 scrimmage yards on 23 touches. Allen still notably got a look near the goal line and converted it for a go-ahead four-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter, only to have the score called back on a holding call away from the play. The rookie running back will look to make the most of his limited opportunities behind Hall in Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Stymied by Vikings
Allen rushed the ball five times for 13 yards in Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Vikings. He added one reception on two targets for 15 yards.
Analysis: Allen was limited by both volume and inefficiency in the Week 5 loss, as he averaged only 2.6 yards per carry and had a long gain of just seven yards. The Jets also attempted only 14 rushes as opposed to 54 passes as they faced a negative game script for the entire contest. That led to a poor result, and Allen was also out-touched 12-6 by Breece Hall heading into a Week 6 bye.

Outplaying Hall as rusher
Allen rushed eight times for 34 yards and caught his only target for 12 yards in Sunday's 10-9 loss to the Broncos.
Analysis: Allen was much more efficient than Breece Hall, who turned 10 carries and five targets into only 18 scrimmage yards. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound rookie is averaging 4.8 yards per carry compared to 3.1 for Hall, and per Connor Hughes of SportsNet New York, coach Robert Saleh said after the game that the team will look into giving Allen more goal-line carries moving forward after Hall was denied on back-to-back rush attempts from the one-yard line in the first half. If Hall continues to struggle in…read more

Leading rusher in Thursday's win
Allen rushed 11 times for 55 yards and caught all three of his targets for 13 yards in Thursday's 24-3 win over the Patriots.
Analysis: Allen finished with one more rushing yard than Breece Hall on five fewer carries, though Hall scored a one-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter and had 16 more receiving yards on two more targets than Allen. Hall's still the top running back for the Jets, but Allen has become a prominent part of the game plan heading into a Week 4 home game against the Broncos, as the rookie fourth-round pick has 141 yards from scrimmage and two TDs through three games while churning out 5.1 yards per…read more

Two TDs in second NFL game
Allen rushed seven times for 33 yards and a touchdown while catching two of four targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Titans.
Analysis: Allen had just nine touches compared to Breece Hall's 21, but the youngest skill-position player in the NFL made the most of his limited opportunities, producing his first two touchdowns in his second game. The rookie fourth-round pick out of Wisconsin got the Jets on the board with a 12-yard touchdown catch late in the first half, then scored the game-winning touchdown on a 20-yard run with 4:31 left in the fourth quarter, breaking a 17-17 tie. Gets first two NFL touches
Allen rushed once for eight yards and caught his only target for nine yards in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers.
Analysis: With a nine-yard catch late in the fourth quarter, Allen became the youngest player to register a touch on offense in the Super Bowl era at 20 years and 233 days. The rookie fourth-round draft pick out of Wisconsin added an eight-yard run on the following play, but he watched Breece Hall amass 21 touches before that point, so Allen's a distant second on the Jets' running back depth chart heading into Week 2 against the Titans.

Targeted four times
Allen rushed the ball eight times for 27 yards in Saturday's 15-12 preseason win over the Panthers. He added two catches (on four targets) for 12 yards.
Analysis: Allen has drawn praise throughout training camp for his physical running style, and the team has also talked up his potential as a pass catcher. He didn't show much ability as a receiver during his collegiate career at Wisconsin, but he was heavily involved in that role Saturday with mixed results. Allen has seemingly all but locked in the second spot on the running back depth chart behind Breece Hall, though Isaiah Davis did get the first rushing attempt in Saturday's contest.

Runs well in preseason debut
Allen rushed six times for 54 yards and wasn't targeted in Saturday's 20-17 preseason win over Washington.
Analysis: Allen is the favorite to operate as Breece Hall's top backup in the regular season, and the rookie fourth-round pick got the start Saturday with Hall getting the day off. After a quiet first quarter, Allen came alive in the second quarter with bursts of 16 and 24 yards on the ground. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound running back out of Wisconsin will look to build on this encouraging debut when the Jets continue preseason play next Saturday against the Panthers.

Top backup on first depth chart
Allen is listed second at running back on the unofficial depth chart released by the Jets ahead of Saturday's preseason opener against the Commanders.
Analysis: Allen has impressed the coaching staff throughout spring practices and the early portion of training camp, showing strong pass blocking and receiving skills for a rookie. The 2024 fourth-round draft pick out of Wisconsin heads into the preseason as Breece Hall's top backup, ahead of 2024 fifth-round pick Isaiah Davis and 2023 fifth-rounder Israel Abanikanda. While the depth chart could still shift based on preseason results, Allen is well positioned to have a role in the Jets offense come the…read more

Look smooth catching passes
Allen has made "a ton of plays as a pass catcher" during OTAs, according to Connor Hughes of SNY.tv.
Analysis: Breece Hall's absence with a lower-body injury has opened up first-team snaps for Allen and fellow rookie Isaiah Davis. It's a bit surprising to hear that Allen has made waves in the passing game, considering he's a 235-pound back who had 275 receiving yards over three seasons as the lead runner at Wisconsin. Picked in the fourth round this spring, Allen is the youngest player in the draft class and will be 20 years old for the entirety of his rookie season. Allen's youth and lack of major…read more
